Before the journey
Proposed online introductions and briefings bring the cohort together before arrival.
- Welcome, program terms and confirmed payment arrangements.
- Voluntary ancestry orientation and history and culture sessions.
- Practical preparation: entry documents, health, insurance, packing, money and connectivity.
- Media consent choices and cultural etiquette.
Six days together
Lomé is the planned base, with journeys to Togoville and Lake Togo, Aného and Glidji, and Kpalimé and Kloto. The closing gala takes place on Day 6; departures begin the following day. An optional 2–3 day extension to Kara and Koutammakou is planned.
The Roots to Togo Passport
A proposed commemorative journey booklet records places, reflections and moments of connection. It is a keepsake, not a legal travel document.
Who can take part
The program prioritizes Black Americans and African Americans while welcoming other eligible members of the African diaspora. Proposed eligibility is age 18 or above, readiness for road travel and moderate walking, and agreement to cultural protocols. Final eligibility, selection and accessibility arrangements remain subject to confirmation. DNA results are never required.
What is still being confirmed
Dates, the flagship hotel, final inclusions, participant contributions and booking terms will be announced after arrangements are secured. No applications, payments or ancestry data are collected on this website.
